Southern Otago

WALK THROUGH /  The angular bench plinth chops and changes through wood grain deliciously / Above, the deep green stone bench top floats, rippled with white / Minimal kitchen frontage allows the overlapping ceiling panels to steal the show, their detail fostering a cosiness in what is in fact a pitched roof of sizeable volume / Lighting is considered for function and feature / The curved ceiling mounted fireplace greets the conversational couch with a smile / The full height windows create a sun trap, furnished exquisitely with Italian design / A dining room of New Zealand design excellence - a David Trubridge light hovers above the award-winning NZ designed/made dining table, with its deep grain and angular base / A brief peak into the bathroom, where the palette continues with glassy sea green tiles and Designers Guild wallpaper.

GO WITH THE GRAIN
Horizontal surface detail in wall paper and woodgrain creates a tranquil backdrop for living.
Architectural design elements such as the angular bench plinth and overlapping ceiling panels echo the sculptural features of the landscape. This space sits in harmony with the outer, without competing with it, and is a complete and interesting environment unto itself.

SCULPTURAL FURNISHINGS
The use of clean and rounded forms in this interior contrasts with the highly nuanced textures of the craggy boulders outside. Smooth and inviting shapes invoke the comfort and relief of home, yet with a contemporary and fresh edge.

UPHOLSTERY THAT POPS
In such a neutrally elegant space, going bold on the furnishings is a great way to bring interest and personality to the picture. Celebrating colour, form and comfort is something our clients were keen on, and chose accordingly.

Melanie Craig Ltd has a full bespoke furniture service, meaning that we can design and manufacture especially for your space. With a vast range of fabrics and finishes in our design library, and a wealth of experience in spacial and flow, we can tailor to your taste and vision.
